Environmental Science Academy is a rigorous 4-year Honors Program for highly focused, college-bound students. The Program is a partnership between TEECS and Raritan Valley Community College. Successful students will graduate with both a high school diploma and an Associate Degree in Environmental Science.
All Environmental Academy courses are taught by highly qualified professors or instructors vetted by RVCC. Starting in 11th grade, students visit RVCC twice a week to take the classes on campus, which helps students to be exposed to the college life.
In their 8th grade year, students who are accepted by TEECS may apply to the Academy Program. Students are accepted into the Program based on the following admissions criteria: 8th grade GPAs, admissions testing (Accuplacer), and a personal interview. Only students who meet the minimum amount of points are eligible for admission.
In order to remain in the Program, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in all classes, including their high school and college courses. The Academy student must obtain a GPA of 3.0 or higher at the end of each quarter on their high school transcript as well as at the end of each semester on their college transcript.
