TEECS First Garden Harvest of the Year!

News 12 New Jersey :TEECS’ Green Team has created a school garden to help reinforce healthy eating habits and sustainable living to our students. Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter Schoolhas received over $7,000 in grants from PSEG Foundation and Whole Kids Foundation to help maintain our garden program. With this money, we have been able to not only produce fruits and vegetables that the kitchen can serve to our students, but TEECS now plans to purchase a greenhouse that will keep the garden fruitful all year long.

As a green school, TEECS future plans include incorporating the garden into as many aspects of our curriculum as possible. For now, we have a SmartTech class that is dedicated to teaching sustainable living incorporating gardening into the curriculum.
