President’s Volunteer Service Award to 10th Grade TEECS Studen

Since the formation of Charity Crossing in New Jersey, Kavinitha Venkatesh (a 10th grader at Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School) volunteers her efforts to this noble cause. Kavi accompanies her father to Delaware, picks up the donations from the warehouse and brings it to their garage in Franklin Park, NJ. Kavi and her father sort the items along with her family and friends who have enrolled as volunteers. They then take the items to the distribution locations that include public events, senior centers, churches and homeless shelters that distribute to the needy. Based on the hours she contributed, Kavi was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) Bronze Medal for two consecutive years by the Lt. Governor of Delaware in a public event in Newark, DE. The PVSA is a prestigious national honor offered in recognition of volunteer commitment.
Everyone at TEECS is so proud of her dedication to her community and all her accomplishments. We know she will continue to do great things.
Charity Crossing was founded 8 years ago in Delaware and branched out into New Jersey about 2 years ago. Charity Crossing collects donations including kitchen and household items, apparel, shoes, socks and several other essential items from stores like Amazon and Walmart. They sort and distribute items to needy families, children, seniors, the disabled and the homeless. Charity Crossing is not only bringing items that people need to their neighborhood but also saving the environment by reducing waste and improper disposal. It’s a 100% volunteer run organization that promotes a culture of giving and volunteering amongst young adults.
