09 Dec Math Makes Kites
At Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School we understand the importance of having students make a connection between their subjects, in this case math, and real-life. These connections are even more important after the last couple of years our students have had to endure through the pandemic. Students in Mr. Altayli’s math class are using what they’ve learned in geometry to make a kite. By correctly using their geometry skills, they were tasked with making a kite fly. In addition to math skills, they are also forming groups with their peers and honing the skills necessary to build good working relationships, develop critical thinking, work together as a team, and communicate effectively. At TEECS, we understand that learning is more effective when it is hands-on and relatable to real-life situations.
