Lottery Application 2026-2027
Thank you for your interest in Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School. The deadline to apply for the 2026-2027 lottery for Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School is January 23, 2026. The lottery will be held on February 14, 2026, at 10 am at Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School.
Please fill in the following information completely. Applications are limited to one per student. If a student appears on the waiting list more than once due to a duplicate application, TEECS will delete all entries except the last one.
Only applications received for students who currently reside in one of our home districts of Franklin Township, North Brunswick, and South Brunswick are entered into our lottery. The lottery creates a waiting list for each grade that is used to fill available seats. If we exhaust the waiting list for any given grade, we will offer seats to students living in other districts. Kindergarten students must meet their local school district’s age requirements.
As per our Admissions Policy, any applications received from non-resident students and/or after the due date will be added to the end of the waiting list in the order that they were received.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Lottery Application, please email Ms. Graf at info@energysmartschool.org.
** Transportation Information **
Transportation is the responsibility of your local school district. Upon enrollment, your student’s information is sent automatically to your local school district’s transportation office, which coordinates and oversees all bus routes and aide-in-lieu.
Residents of Franklin Township
Your local school district provides a school bus to and from TEECS. You will receive your bus pass directly from their transportation department. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian until the bus pass is received.
Residents of North Brunswick
TEECS has coordinated with the Education Services Commission of New Jersey (ESCNJ) to provide busing for North Brunswick residents at a fee. Parents that opt in to use busing will be responsible for paying this fee to TEECS through their Community Pass account. You will receive your bus pass directly from ESCNJ. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian until the bus pass is received.
All North Brunswick parents, regardless of whether you opt in to use the bus or not, will receive aid-in-lieu of transportation from the North Brunswick Board of Education. Parents can use these funds towards the cost of transportation, however, you will also be responsible for the difference as the aide-in-lieu (an amount set by the state of New Jersey) will not be enough to cover the full amount.
Residents of South Brunswick
TEECS has coordinated with the Education Services Commission of New Jersey (ESCNJ) to provide busing for South Brunswick residents at a fee. Parents that opt in to use busing will be responsible for paying this fee to TEECS through their Community Pass account. You will receive your bus pass directly from ESCNJ. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian until the bus pass is received.
All South Brunswick parents, regardless of whether you opt in to use the bus or not, will receive aid-in-lieu of transportation from the South Brunswick Board of Education. Parents can use these funds towards the cost of transportation, however, you will also be responsible for the difference as the aide-in-lieu (an amount set by the State of New Jersey) will not be enough to cover the full amount.
Residents of All Other Districts
Your local school district does not provide a bus. Transportation to and from TEECS is the responsibility of the parent. Some districts will reimburse you for transportation costs at a set rate (aide-in-lieu of transportation) depending on your distance from the school.
