The Plains, Virginia — Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School proudly celebrates its Rocketry Team for earning 80th place at the 2026 American Rocketry Challenge National Finals, held in The Plains, Virginia.

This outstanding achievement places TEECS among the top student rocketry teams in the nation. In 2026, a record-breaking 1,107 teams from 44 states and Washington, D.C. competed in the American Rocketry Challenge. Only the top teams advanced to the National Finals, where students launched their rockets under rigorous competition requirements.

The American Rocketry Challenge is recognized as the world’s largest student rocket competition, engaging more than 100,000 middle and high school students in model rocketry. Throughout the year, students design, build, test, and launch rockets while applying real-world engineering, aerospace, mathematics, and problem-solving skills.

TEECS is honored to have competed on the national stage among the best teams in the country. This accomplishment reflects the dedication, teamwork, and perseverance of our students, coaches, and families.

We congratulate our Rocketry Team for their hard work and commitment. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the coaches and parents whose support helped make this memorable achievement possible.
