15 Apr Congratulations TEECS! They took first place overall in all eight events at the Elementary Science Olympiad.
The events included:
- Bridge Building Challenge: building a lengthy, strong and stable suspension bridge from common material
- Paper Rockets Challenge: building and fly a paper rocket from materials provided
- Egg Drop Challenge: designing a protective container and parachute to prevent a dropped egg from breaking
- Write It Do It Challenge: building an exact replica of a model following instructions written by their partner
- Picture This Challenge: drawing a scientific term or concept while their team tries to guess what it is
- Crime Busters Challenge: identifying unknown powders, matching fingerprints and using paper chromatography to identify a note at a crime scene
- Don’t Bug Me Challenge: distinguishing insects from non-insects
- Optics Challenge: using mirrors to reflect light
Congratulations and a big thank you to Mrs. Kon for organizing the Elementary Science Olympiad! Mrs. Kon warmly welcomed all the teams and encouraged them to participate in the competition. The event was well-supervised by teachers from all participating schools.
